Individual Hypnosis Sessions

Much modern hypnosis is grounded in the neuroscience behind “neural pathways”, likened to highways that get created by the ways we think. Thus, if we can change the way we think about something, we can change our experience of it. The practical applications are very common in areas like sports and the arts. Anywhere a skill must be developed to a high degree. In music, for example, we learn to identify the ways we are thinking that result in sounds we prefer less, and change our thinking to make it more likely that the sounds we prefer will occur at the time we intend. In hypnosis, rather than an errant sound, we work with more general experiences (commonly smoking cessation, anxiety, weight loss, and the like). But the idea is the same. Hypnosis sessions are thus an exploration of how we can most effectively learn how to do this for ourselves.

A typical session involves some brief discussion about what you’d like to address with hypnosis and specific moments or contexts that comes up in your life. Then, we identify personalized ways you are comfortable with to achieve your goal and practice them together. Every session involves some relaxation. Although 3 sessions are recommended, you will leave the first session with something you can work on on your own, which is enough for some people.

Hypnosis is not talk therapy, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, or any other modality requiring a mental health or medical license. Diagnosis and treatment of any medical or mental health conditions should always be performed by a licensed professional. Please do find a therapist you love and work with both of us.
